Welcome to the Circuit blog — a place to share what we're building, what we're learning, and the ideas that catch our attention.

What we'll be writing about

Expect a mix of product updates, thoughts on design and technology, practical guides, and stories from behind the scenes at Circuit. Some posts will be about our apps. Others will explore the everyday problems and interesting questions around them.

A first focus: making property management simpler

One of those topics is property management. Through Rentably, we're exploring how software can make the day-to-day work of landlords and tenants easier. Alongside the wider blog, our property-focused articles can cover:

  • Compliance — Section 21 changes, EPC requirements, gas and electrical safety, Right to Rent.
  • Tenancy lifecycle — references, deposit protection, mid-tenancy issues, renewals, end-of-tenancy.
  • Finances — rent reviews, allowable expenses, mortgage interest relief, working with a letting agent vs self-managing.
  • Maintenance — what to schedule, what to track, how to avoid the surprise £4k boiler bill.
  • Tools and software — when a spreadsheet stops being enough.

We're not lawyers or accountants. Where it matters, we'll point you to the official source and recommend speaking to a professional.

Who's writing this

Hi — I'm Carl, the founder of Circuit Software. This blog brings together lessons from building our products, conversations with the people who use them, and anything else we think is worth sharing.

Why this matters to us

Software is only useful if it solves a real problem. The more we understand the challenges people face in everyday life, the better we can build for them. Writing publicly forces us to keep learning, and gives us a way to share what we find out with everyone — not just our customers.

Thanks for reading. We look forward to sharing more ideas, discoveries and updates with you.
