Packlet - Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Circuit Software Ltd ("Circuit Software", "we", "us", or "our") handles personal data when you use the Packlet mobile application ("App"). Circuit Software Ltd is the data controller for personal data processed through the App.
This Policy should be read with our Terms of Use (https://circuitsoftware.co.uk/products/packlet/termsofservice/).
1. About the App
Packlet is a travel planning and packing list app. You can use its core features without creating an online account.
Trip and packing data is stored on your device. If you choose to sign in, you can also back up and restore supported App data using our online services.
2. Data We Handle
Depending on how you use the App, we may handle:
• Account data, such as your email address, account identifier, and name where supplied by Apple or Google when you choose to sign in.
• Content you enter in the App, such as trip details and packing list items.
• Images associated with your trips, where you use destination image features.
• Preferences and settings stored on your device.
• Technical and diagnostic information used to keep the App reliable and secure, such as crash reports, error logs, and device or App information.
• Support information you provide when you contact us.
We do not currently request access to your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, calendar, or photo library. We do not use advertising SDKs or use App data for targeted advertising.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
The App stores your trips, packing lists, preferences, and related App data in its private storage on your device.
If you use the App without signing in, your trip and packing data is not backed up to our online services. It may be lost if you delete the App, clear its storage, lose your device, or reset the App.
Your device platform may include App data in device-level backups. Those backups are controlled by Apple, Google, or your device settings rather than by us.
4. Accounts and Cloud Backup
Signing in with Apple or Google is optional. Sign-in is provided through Apple or Google and our authentication service. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
When you sign in, supported trip and packing data can be copied to our online backup service and associated with your account. Backup may retain deletion records so that deleted items stay deleted after a restore.
Cloud backup is intended to help restore App data. It is not a guaranteed archival service, and you remain responsible for information you need to retain.
5. Destination Images
If destination images are enabled, the App may send a search based on your trip destination to a third-party image provider so that images can be shown in the App. The provider may receive request information needed to supply and measure use of those images.
Selected images may be stored on your device for offline use and may be included with your trip data in cloud backup. You can disable destination images in the App's settings.
Where images are supplied by Unsplash, see the Unsplash Privacy Policy (https://unsplash.com/privacy) for how Unsplash handles related information.
6. Reminders and Notifications
If you enable trip reminders, the App asks for notification permission and schedules notifications on your device. Reminder content may include your trip destination. Trip reminders are sent from your device rather than through a remote messaging service.
You can disable reminders in the App or notification permission in your device settings.
7. How and Why We Use Data
We use personal data to:
• Provide the App, authentication, cloud backup, restore, destination images, and support you request.
• Maintain App security, prevent misuse, diagnose faults, and improve reliability.
• Comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Under UK data protection law, we rely on performance of our contract with you where processing is needed to provide requested App services. We rely on our legitimate interests to secure, maintain, and diagnose the App, balanced against your rights. We rely on consent where the law requires it, including for optional device permissions, and on legal obligation where applicable.
We do not make decisions about you using automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
8. Service Providers and Other Recipients
We disclose data only as needed to operate the App, comply with law, or protect legal rights. Depending on how you use the App, this may include:
• Cloud hosting, authentication, and related backend service providers.
• Apple and Google, when you use their sign-in services or obtain the App through their stores.
• Third-party image providers, when destination image features are used.
• Crash reporting and diagnostics providers.
• App distribution and update providers.
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy notices. We may also disclose data where required by law, to protect users or our rights, or as part of a business sale or restructuring subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal data or disclose it to third parties for targeted advertising.
9. International Transfers
Some service providers may process personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we use an available lawful mechanism, such as adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Retention and Deletion
Data stored only on your device remains there until you delete it, reset the App, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App, subject to device-level backups.
If you delete your online account using the App, we delete the active account and associated cloud trip and packing records. Trips and packing lists stored on your device remain until you separately reset the App or remove them.
If you reset the App, local App data, preferences, reminders, and local identity are cleared. Resetting the App does not delete an online account or cloud backup.
Our service providers may retain limited copies in backups, security records, or logs for their standard retention cycles. We may retain information where required by law or needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Diagnostic and support data is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for those purposes.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data. Internet transmission and electronic storage are not completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for securing your device and any Apple or Google account used to access cloud backup.
12. Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and to receive certain data in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing.
To exercise a right, email hello@circuitsoftware.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. More information is available at https://ico.org.uk/.
13. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect online account data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy when the App or our data practices change. We will update the date above and provide any additional notice required by law.
